Breaking Free from Limiting Beliefs: A Step-by-Step Guide

Let’s talk about those little voices in your head—the ones that whisper, “I’m not good enough” or “I’ll never make it.” You know the ones I’m talking about, right? I dealt with them for years, and let me tell you—they kept me small, stuck, and afraid to go after the life I wanted. And I know you’re feeling that way too, but here's the good news: you don’t have to stay there!

Here’s how I broke free from those limiting beliefs, and how YOU can too.

Step 1: Awareness

You can’t fix what you don’t know is broken, right? For the longest time, I didn’t even realize my negative self-talk was holding me back. I used to tell myself, “I’m not smart enough to run a business,” or “I can't even imagine that much money.” Sound familiar?

The first step is noticing these thoughts. Every time you hear yourself saying something negative, stop for a second and ask: “Would I say this to my best friend?” Probably not! This is your cue to start shifting the narrative.

Step 2: Challenge

Once you’ve noticed the limiting beliefs, it’s time to call them out. Is what you're thinking really true, or is it just something you’ve told yourself over and over again? When I first started my business, I had to challenge the belief that I wasn’t “good enough.” It was tough, but I learned that those thoughts had no real evidence behind them.

Start questioning your thoughts and realize that just because you think something, doesn’t mean it’s true.

Step 3: Replace

Now here’s where the magic happens: replace those limiting beliefs with something that empowers you. When I catch myself thinking, “I can’t do this,” I immediately replace it with, “I’m capable of figuring this out.” Every time you do this, you’re retraining your brain to think differently. It doesn’t happen overnight, but trust me—it works!

Step 4: Surround Yourself with Positivity

If you’re constantly surrounded by negativity, it’s no wonder you feel stuck. Start surrounding yourself with people who uplift you, read books that inspire you, and create an environment that supports the person you want to become. I found that when I made a conscious effort to surround myself with positivity, my mindset started to shift. I started with my instagram, unfollowed accounts that made me feel bad and found new, positive and uplifting accounts to follow instead. After that, friends and I'm so excited to share I have created a little group of friends that are totally aligned with my future goals and they inspire me every day!

How do your friends make you feel?

Step 5: Practice, Practice, Practice

I wish I could tell you that breaking free from limiting beliefs is a one-and-done deal, but it’s not. It takes practice. Every single day, I still catch myself falling into old patterns, but now I have the tools to snap myself out of it. And you will too. It’s about making a habit out of challenging your negative thoughts and replacing them with something that pushes you forward.

Conclusion: Limiting beliefs are like invisible walls that keep you from reaching your full potential. But here’s the thing—they’re just thoughts. You have the power to tear down those walls, one belief at a time. So the next time you hear that little voice saying you’re not good enough, remember this: you’re in control. Start small, challenge those beliefs, and replace them with ones that fuel your success.
